I am researching Hugh McGivern and his wife Alice who are my 3rd great grandparents. They had 3 sons that I know about: William, John and Bernard/Barney. Hugh, Alice and Barney came to the United States in 1858 and are buried in St. Vincent's Catholic Cemetery They had children, the youngest was my mother Margaret who was born in 1919 and died in 2005.

I'd like to learn about any other family members who did not leave Ireland. Thank you .

I checked the Roots Ireland indexes. I looked for McGivern baptismal records where the parents were Hugh and Alice. I only found one record-- for a Bernard in 1842 in Annaclone RC church. I could not find a record for a William or John McGivern with a father named Hugh anywhere in Co.Down.

I looked at the 1863 Griffiths valuation head of household listing for Annaclone parish. There were 14 McGivern entries. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/down/annaclone.htm

The 1901 census for Annaclone parish shows 30 people with the surname McGivern. There are two Johns and one William.

Let me know if you have questions.
