My brother, Richard, and I, Phillip Alexander (both of Fayetteville, Arkansas, U.S.A.), will visit Raphoe from 10-12 July 2023.
Our 8x great-grandfather was William Alexander (b abt. 1620 in Raphoe; d. abt. 1688 in Raphoe) of Raphoe. He was the father of the "infamous Nine," otherwise known as the "7 brothers and 2 sisters," all of whom were born in Raphoe and emigrated en masse to Cecil Co., Maryland, U.S.A., in 1673.
William's father is believed to have been John Alexander (b. abt. 1600 in Ayshire, Scotland; d. unknown.), who likely emigrated to Raphoe before William's birth.
We are direct, patrilineal descendants of Samuel Alexander, one of the 7 brothers, and thus, of course, of William and John too.
We would love to be met by someone of your group, introduced to Raphoe by a native, and, if possible, pointed to any places where we might find genealogical records (church records, tax records, muster rolls, etc.) regarding William, John, or any of the 7+2.
Would anyone interested in aiding us in our adventure in Raphoe please reply to this message or contact me directly at: alxfyv@gmail.com?
With kind regards and many thanks for your interest,
Phillip Alexander

REPLY TO ROGER MCDONNELL:
Thank you, Roger, for the link to the form. I filled it out and submitted it this date.
REPLY TO EILEEN:
Thank you for the links. I will follow them. Is there a chance we can visit the Presbyterian cemetery and take photos of the tombstones of William and John, assuming they are there to be found?
And thank you for the link to Samuel's marriage record in 1845, but he is not our Samuel of the 7 Brothers (born abt. 1657 in Raphoe; died 14 Jun 1733 in Cecil Co., Maryland, U.S.A.) ( For further information on Samuel and a link to the profile page for his father William, see https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Alexander-2022/ )
With kindest regards,

https://ancestors.familysearch.org/en/GQNL-FW5/william-alexander-1614-1…; I hope your family have a wonderful trip to Ireland and see for themselves the lovely town of Raphoe Co. Donegal. I believe I read somewhere that the grave is a tabletop grave so I hope the writing is still legible (weathering). If you contact the church authorities ahead of your trip , I am sure they may be able to assist with details/information/location of buriels. Enjoy and bring a brolly, Donegal is known for the rain.
