I'm researching my great great great grandparents Patrick Bradley and Sarah Quin from Knock, Killygordan, Donegal. They were the parents of my great great granny Theresa Bradley (as well as her six other siblings) who was born in Nov 1873. She later married an Edward Glackin. I recently found out that Patrick had another wife before Sarah named Mary Davitt and together they had five children. I would love to learn more about that - their marriage, the children and when Mary died and what she died of. Also any info on Patrick and Sarah would also be very useful as I have no dates on their births or deaths.
Thank you so much,
Katelyn Hanna

Katelyn:
I looked up the baptismal records for the seven Bradley children. Since the oldest, Mary Anne, was born in 1864, the marriage of Patrick and Sarah and his prior marriage and children all pre-date civil registration. You would have to rely on any available church records. A resource book that I have indicates that RC records are available starting in 1840 for Donaghmore parish. You may want to contact the church in Killygordon (see link) to see if they can assist.

As an aside, there is a new book out called "Donegal Generations" written by Tom Gallen that is based in Donaghmore parish. http://tomgallen.com/

Thank you so much for the info. One of Patrick and Sarah's children - my great great granny Theresa Bradley - married an Edward Glackin and I found three of his siblings - Conell, Charles and Patrick - all refistered on April 21st 1864. Would this mean that two were possibly born before this but the parents decided to register them all then as registration became mandatory?

I think the Glackin boys were triplets. The baptismal index records also showed a April 21st 1864 date of birth.

Thank you for that. Are there any baptismal records for Edward Glackin born in about 1861? I can't find any online. He is my direct ancestor yet I know the least about him. He married Teresa Bradley in 1895. His sister Margaret Glackin also married into the Bradleys - Charles James Bradley.

Sorry for the delayed response but I accidently saw this query. For some reason I was not alerted by the system that you had commendted on 8/20. Regarding Edward Glackin, if he was from Donaghmore parish, he may be in the Killygordon records.
