William Brown (approx. 1796), wife Sarah Jane and family emigrated to Peel County, Ontario Canada 1854-1856. Children included John (1822), Eliza (1824), George (1826), William (1829), James (1833), Thomas (1834), Robert (1838), Esther (1840), Joseph (1843), & Sarah Jane (1844). Daughter Eliza married William John Griffen at Magherafelt Presbyterian Church November 9, 1849 and they did not emigrate until 1865. Son George may have been in the army. Went to Canada for work and was killed while digging a ditch in Toronto 1876. Death info advised that his wife & children were in Ireland at the time. I am attempting to find info on William & Sarah Jane (birth, marriage). Would like to know Sarah Jane's maiden name. Would also like to know who George married & any children. The Browns were close to the Wright family, also from Magherafelt, who also emigrated to Canada(William & Charlotte) in 1856.

You don’t specifically say what denomination the Brown family were. However tradition was to marry in the bride’s church and since Eliza married in Magherafelt Presbyterian church, then that’s probably their denomination.
Magherafelt 1st Presbyterian church records start in 1769 but unfortunately there’s a gap in them between 1881 and 1813 (bapts) and 1819 (marriages). So you won’t find a baptism for William Brown if that was where he was baptised. You might just find their marriage if it was after 1819. There’s a copy of the records in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast. I am not sure if they are on-line anywhere.
What’s Eliza’s townland (address) on the 1849 marriage certificate? That might just be where George’s widow and children were to be found in 1876.
Looking at the 1831 census I can see Wm Brown Presbyterian households in Ballynogher, Tullylinksay (2), Ballymoghan More and Magherafelt town.
Searching for George Brown marriages in Magherafelt 1845 to 1870, I found 5 (1846, 1848, 1852, 1853 & 1866). You can view the original certificates on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:
You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2 (sterling) to a view a certificate.
