Looking for the family of William Mason (of Castle Dawson?), born 1783, son of William Mason of Magherafelt. William the son leased  land in the Townland of Kilfaddy, and also in a partnership with a Dawson Stewart.

Also look for the family of Elizabeth Espy, born 1794. There is a suggestion she was related to Dr Robert Espie, as he recommended them for emigration to New Zealand, and William apparently lied about his age to get accepted (he was 57, and said he was 40!).

There is also a suggestion that Elizabeth was a cousin of Jane Cambell nee Espie who was the mother of a Mary Ann Campbell who married a William Hughey of Lecumpher, Londonderry, who came out on the same ship (Martha Ridgeway).

Information from "The House of Espie in Australia and New Zealand", compiled by Mary Smith, ISBN 0 646 16595, 1993.

Thank you - I seem to have more irish ancestry than I thought! Already sorted the Falkiner's of Tipperary - what a fascinating talented family! This one looks equally interesting.
