I am researching William McCluskey b.c. 1801 Co Derry. William married Mary Donaghy c.1819. I have 8 children for this couple of which 2 of them I have confirmed born in Faughanvale, Derry. The remaining children only show as being born in Derry Co - I'm assuming all were born in the same vicinity. Manus b. Nov 20, 1820; John c.1825; Henry b.c. 1830; Mary b.c.1831 Faughanvale; Bernard b.c.1837; Isaac b.c.1840; William b. May 10, 1842; Annie b.c.1844 Faughanvale. The family came to New Brunswick, Canada in 1848. I also believe William may have had a brother John McCluskey married to Ann Carton. Not sure if John & Ann remained in Ireland as I have not been able to find any information on this couple. The family is Roman Catholic. William's occupation in Canada shows as a "farmer".

The 1831 census for Co Derry has a William McCloskey in Cregan townland in Faughanvale. There?s 2 John McCloskey households, one in Carnakilly and the other in Whitehill, again both in Faughanvale, near Cregan.
That census only listed heads of household so there?s no names for others who lived there.
Some McCloskeys in Carnakelly in 1901, who were RC:

An Irish probate file for a McCloskey who died intestate in the USA:

(PRONI, Belfast will have the full probate file).
The Whitehill family were Church of Ireland, so probably not your family:
