Above is the marriage information I recently found regarding my ancestors on FamilySearch.

Shortly after, in 1856 Thomas and Rebecca Clarke sailed on the "Schomberg" as immigrants to VDL (Tasmania). The "Schomberg was wrecked and they finished their journey on the "City of Hobart".The person who applied for them to come out was John H Moore.

Thomas Clarke may not have been an inhabitant of Faughanvale as it states on his passage documents he was from Co. Tyrone. possibly the family was from somewhere in the border area?

Hoping someone may be able to help me expand on the few details I have...

Regards,

Peter aka Tastyger

  • I suggest you have a look at the actual marriage certificate to get the couples addresses, occupations, and theor fathers names and occupations. That should help you trace them backwards.

You can view the certificate on-line on the GRONI website, using the ?search registrations? option:

    https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

(You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs ?2 to a view a certificate).

Tradition was to marry in the bride?s church (which should be on the certificate, unless it was a Registry Office marriage). That church may be the place to look for her baptism and that of any siblings.
