Larkin Family

Daniel was baptised 25th May 1862 in Ballyscullion Catholic Parish, parents Michael Larkin and Mary McClernon. The godparents appear were James Scullen and Lucy Lurkan - the family surname is recorded on this baptism as Lurkan, the mother surname is sometimes spelt McLernon.

I'll have a look for aby siblings to Daniel and a possible marriage for his parents this eveningr. Baptism and marriage records for this parish go back to 1844.

I was able to locate four other children in this family - all baptised in the same parish, so list of children in baptism order :

Catholic Baptisms generally took place soon after birth, usually within a coupleof days, but sometimes even on the same day. One of the baptisms includes a residence as 'Ballyscullion', possibly a reference to the townland of Ballyscullion West.
Several different versions of the surnames are used - e.g. Larkin, Lurkin, Lorkin, McLernon, McClarnon etc

One of the chapels for the parish is located in the town of Bellaghy, an this is an alternate name for the Catholic parish. Both the civil and Catholic parishes of Ballyscullion include areas in both Co. Derry/Londonderry & Antrim.

I've not been able to locate a marriage for Michael and Mary, but will recheck..

The children born after the start of 1864, i.e. Ellen, John and Eliza, should have been civil registered and have birth certs available. These would include some details not included on a Catholic Baptism, such as father's occupation, and a more detailed place of residence, generally the name of a town or townland.
