Hi Fellow Seekers
I am looking for information on Robert Henry born 12 Jul 1830 who came from Mullinabrone and his family, William Henry and Jean Hill. He married Martha Jane Lynd/ Linn/Lind on 31 May 1860 at Agahdowey church. Her parents were William Lynd and Mary Hill. Robert and Martha came to Victoria in 1875 and settled in Poowong East. They had five children in Ireland, one died on the journey and one in the colony called the "Colonial Boy" Any information about this family would be appreciated.
Cheers John Hosie

Hi John,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking at church records for more information? Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Aghadowey/Coleraine parish follow this link:
For Church of Ireland records check http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf
Some marriage and baptismal records can be found online at Family Search. This is a huge database of genealogical records compiled by the Church of the Latter Day Saints. If you have not already used it, it may be worth your while: www.familysearch.org
Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so you may find some records of the family up until their emigration here. You also may find records from other family members that remained in Ireland. These records are available at the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:

You can also search the indexes at Family Search. Here is the link: https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
Have you tried searching for the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century? There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
You can also try searching the 1901/1911 census records for any family members that stayed in Ireland. These records can offer some really useful information. You can search these here:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
