I am trying to determine the date and place of Cecilia Jane Knox's birth. Her parents were Anne Jane Eliza and Nathaniel Alexander Knox. The Census records form 1831 show that they lived in the townland of Lissaghmore in the Parish of Agivey in county Londonderry in that year. In additon, Cecilia is believed to have had a brother, also named Nathaniel Alexander Knox, who was born on March 17 1837 in the Parish of Aghadowey. And finally, the database for gravestone inscriptions records headstones details for both of Cecilia's parents in Aghadowey Parish. They died on September 12 1880 (Nathaniel) and June 26, 1875 (Anne). We have reason to believe that Cecilia was born around 1842 and no later thsn 1850.
Any information tjat you might be able to give us would certainly be appreciated.
Thanks very much.

Dear Tim
Apologies for the long delay in getting back to you. Have you managed to find out any more about the above?
Best wishes

Tim, you will find some detail if you Google and look at the free ebook on the genealogy of the Knox family. I have the hard copy. There were a number of children, several sons and daughters . I think Cecilia's brother became a lawyer in Adelaide, others went to America. Certainly one of my great great grandmothers Henrietta Knox married in Australia. I have a letter from her Knox grandfather describing Ann Wall mother of Cecilia, and saying something along the lines of ' you may think she is a rather common woman but she comes form an old Irish family' and then recounts how they were originally called de Wall and that her family were landowners in the time of Oliver Cromwell. Apparently her ancestor was asked to show his title to Cromwell to prove his ownership, it was ripped up in front of him and he was then hung. Tracing the Knox family is hard because they keep using the same names!
