Hi,
What a great project. I am searching for my O'Regan and/or O'Driscoll ancestors from Skull. I have a marriage certificate for my gggrandparents who were married in 1852 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The groom's parents are given as John O'Regan and Mary O'Driscoll, while the bride's parents are given as John O'Driscoll and Mary O'Regan. Had to read the document several times to make sure I was indeed reading it correctly. If this intermarriage between the O'Regan's and O'Driscoll's rings any bells with anyone, I would love to hear from you>
Many Thanks,
Frances O'Regan

Frances:
I don't know how (if) our families are connect but I am also researching Regan and Driscoll families of (East) Schull/Skull.
My ancestor, Bridget (Regan) McAuliffe probably had a brother named Cornelius Regan and they were closely associated with Murtaugh Driscoll. Recent DNA matches indicate that Bridget was a Regan and a Driscoll of East Schull; I suspect that her unknown mother was a Driscoll. For more information, see...

Hello - I also have family connections to O Driscoll, our G G Grandmother was Ellen ( Nell ) Driscoll, born c 1804, who married Cian O Mahoney in Schull West in 1827. The witnesses at their wedding were Jehr ( Dermot ) Mahony and Denis Driscoll, who was, I think, Ellen's father. The first four of their children were also born in Schull West, now Goleen, and the rest of their children born in Schull East after 1843. Their last born, Denis, named after the second born son, Denis had died as a child, and our G Grandfather, was born in Ballycomaine, near Durrus in the parish of Muintervara.
Other baptismal sponsors in Schull West and East; Michael Driscoll & Margaret Mahony, John Mahony & Ellen Carty, Mick Murphy & Julia Magra ( ?? ), Bat & Joan Driscoll, Michael Brown & Narry Driscoll, Jerh Mahony & Ellen Driscoll, Cornelius Mahony & Ellen Driscoll. According to the children's naming pattern, Ellen, Cornelius, Denis, Jane / Johanna. Also next a Jeremiah. So will make a stab at guessing that Cian's parents were Cornelius and Jane / Johanna, and Ellen's Denis and Ellen.
In the Tithe applotment lists made for this region from 1825 - 1833, there was a Denis Driscoll sharing acreage with a Timothy Casey and a Jeremiah Mahony, in Dineenaluenane which is close to Dunbeacon, where there was another Denis Driscoll, and another in Dunmanus. The Mahony family were living either in Dineenaluenane or on the western slopes of Mount Gabriel. I find the Mahony / O Driscoll connections rather funny as I was always told that these two families had traditionally been fierce enemies .......
Do any of these names ring any bells??

Hello,
Unfortunately, I know virtually nothing about the O'Regan's or O'Driscoll's in Ireland - my trail begins in Kingston Ontario where they settled after arriving here sometime between 1848 and 1850. The info I have is from the wedding registration for John O'Regan and Mary O'Driscoll in 1852, which states that John's mother was one Mary O'Driscoll and the bride's mother is given as one Mary O'Regan. I had to read it several times to make sure I was reading it correctly. It also states that both were from Schull. It is perhaps interesting however that the names Denis and Jerimiah do feature in the family in Kingston as well. I am sure there is some connection here, but just how close it is I am not sure. It would certainly be nice put finally put the pieces of the puzzle together.
Sorry I could have been of more help. Good luck with your research.
Regards,
Frances

Hi, I do not know if she may be related, but I'm thinking that chances may be good... My 4th Great grandparents were (as listed on their son, my 3rd Great grandfathers, Jeremiah's death certificate) John Ford and Mary Driscoll. I also know, Jeremiah had two brothers named Cornelius and William (proven through DNA) and that in his children's baptismal records in Ohio, USA it lists William as coming from Skull, Cork, Ireland. We now know that is Schull, however, which part, I have no idea. My Mary Driscoll and John Ford have been an enormous brick wall, as I cannot find a couple matching their names so far, anywhere in Ireland, much less Schull in this time period. Jeremiah was born in abt 1822 and I found a baptism in the right area for a Jeremiah Ford with parents John and Margaret, Feb of 1822. Knowing that Mary & Margaret are about as interchangeable as Ellen/Nellie could they be the same person? If so, could they be relation to your Driscoll's? Even if a sister or side relative? The time frame and place are a perfect fit. Mary Driscoll would have had to have been born anywhere before about 1808 (assuming 14 would be the youngest she would give birth - sheesh don't even want to think about that! ) Any ideas of where to go next, or any insight into a likely family she may go with? I appreciate any little crumbs that could break down my wall at this point. Ps, my DNA was done with AncestryDNA if it helps. Thanks a million, Jacki

FYI, I have a family of Regan's from East Schull born to Cornelius Regan and Hanora Leary. Their 10 children were born between 1823 and 1846. You can search for their other details on xo if interested... but from what I am reading all of you had other unrelated Regan's living is East Schull. Good luck in your searches! Maureen Clary
