Two of my great grandparents came from Kilworth to Brisbane, Australia. They were - James Murray & Catherine Kelleher. I am puzzled by Catherine's baptism records. There are two identical records - one from Killworth & one from Temp. Does anyone know why? The date for Catherine's baptism is 7/1/1838.

Many Thanks

Denyse

Your question is probably best answered by Roots. I'm thinking it was an error in the process of pulling together records from the various county level Heritage offices. Why it affected your Catherine is a mystery. There is no place called Temp.

There was only one Baptist church in Co. Cork and it was in Cork city.

If you get an answer from Roots, I'd like to know

  • Hi Roger! Roots Ireland inform me that Temp means temporary parish. Apparently, sometimes when the original records were being transcribed they were placed in a temporary parish. I've no idea why, but I suppose I can now dismiss any idea of temples. Regards, Denyse
