I am researching Richard Edmond Supple, born May 1842, Father ,John Supple, Mother, Mary Neill. Sponsors, John Neill and Mary Mohir. Other family members: Pealey Supple, Hannah Supple, Margaret Supple and Mary Supple. Richard moved to Derby Connecticut and married Annie Lane on Oct. 26, 1865. Mary Supple married Maurice Kiely and Margaret Supple married James Ormond.
Richard was my great-grandfather. I am visiting Ireland in July 2014 and would like to be able to see where my family lived. I also heard about Supple Castle ruins and would like to see it.

As you may know, Kilworth is a Civil Parish in Co. Cork:
The records for the Roman Catholic Parish of Kilworth begin in 1829. You could search www.familysearch.org or www.rootsireland.ie (a subscription site) for information about Richard Supple and his parents. You could also search the Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837 and the Griffith?s Valuation, (a land survey taken between 1847 and 1864) for occurrences of the family in that area. Although they only record the name of the head of household, it can prove useful.

As you are visiting in July you might be interested in looking at the Ordnance Survey Ireland Maps. You can easily compare the first version of the map dating from 1829 with the modern version. This comparison shows how the landscape and geography of the area has changed, as well as listing ring-forts, graveyards, schools and other archaeological aspects of the area. You can simply ?flip? from one view of the map to the other by using the table shown on the right-hand-side of the map:
