  • Trish:

I went to www.familysearch.org and found baptismal index records for four children of Cornelius Hegarty and Hannah Flynn: Bridget 9/29/1872, John 5/2/1874, Richard 4/29/1876 and David 3/16/1878. There was also a marriage index record for Cornelius Hegarty and Hanna Flynne in the Fermoy registration district (show below). With Bridget born the end of September, I assume they were married in early 1872. You can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie to get a copy of the marriage record which should show townlands and the names of the fathers. Fill out the GRO form and provide the year of marriage, registration district (Fermoy) and the volume and page number ( 4 and 787). Costs around 4 euros.

By the way, on Richard's baptismal index record, the townland of Loughnahilly is listed. This townland is in Kilcrumper civil parish not far from Fermoy.

  • Roger, Would you be able to search also for the family of Catharine Mary Rice, my great grandmother, who emigrated between 1850 and 1854 and was born in Lettram Parish, Killworth, Cork about 1829?

Her mother was Margaret. I do not know her mother;s maiden name or her father's name.

I am also looking for records of my great grandfather, Thomas Geary, who was from Clonypriest, Cork, and was born between 1822-1826. He emigrated in 1850. His mother's name on his death certificate was Lillie B Slingerlands.

    Thanks for your help! Virginia

  • Virginia:

I used a different site to search for Catherine Rice and Thomas Geary. www.irishgenealogy.ie  is a new Irish government site which has some Cork church records going back to the early 19th century. However, I had no sucess in finding records for Catherine and Thomas.
