My GGGrandfather was Jeremiah Lehane who was born around 1860.  He came to the US and married Mary OKane here.  Family just knows he was from Cork, and that his ancestors were of CastleLyons.  They married in the US.  Any advice or ideas where to find his parents?

  • Hi Kathy

There is a public member tree on ancestry which has this family; here is an excerpt:

When Jeremiah Lehane was born on March 19, 1859, in Kilcrohane, Cork, Ireland, his father, Daniel, was 27 and his mother, Mary, was 16. He married his first wife in 1891. On October 6, 1891, he married his second wife in Lafayette County, Missouri. He died in 1941 in St Clair County, Illinois, at the age of 82, and was buried in Higginsville, Missouri.

    Is this the right family?

The tree mentions his brother Cornelius

I couldn't find Jeremiah's birth record but did find his brother on www.rootsireland.ie/ (pay site) which has his mother's name.
