I have discovered some matching records for my family of Michael (Mick) Hays and Joanna Mullin at the Irish genealogy site. I had originally thought my Hayes Family came from Clonakilty County Cork but these records are from Goleen Parochial District area of West Schull. It is with pleasure that I found these records because I could not confirm where they came from in Ireland. I only had family lore. I know the church records start from around 1827 on in this area. My first question is with the records saying Goleen Parochial district does that mean they lived and went to a church in Goleen or is that just where the records were kept. Second question is I have found 3 of the 5 children born after 1827. I ask where might these people from this era have gone to church prior to 1827. Maybe I can find the older children there on their records.I might be able to find the marriage of Mick & Joanna there too. Last question. If this area of Goleen is where this family resided can anyone offer me any suggestions on how to trace this family further and possibly find any records of Mick's brother John Hays/Hayes who married a Mary Driscoll. I did find a marriage record on one of Johns sons in Goleen Records. Date of marriage corresponds to what I previously had.

Check adjacent parish of Schull for earlier records which might help you in your search. Check Heas spelling also.
