Looking for the Carrell Family in Bandon and Clarke family and Handrahan family in Ireland

Can you clarify if your various ancestors were Church of Ireland or Roman Catholic? I assume you do not have parent's names for any of these individuals?

Did you mean you'd like to find the ancestors of Ellen?  For if you meant her descendants, it is likely most of them are in England.

Ancestry.com has loads of trees for Ellen and Jacob. You might find some information there.

It might be a good idea to do as much research as possible before going to Bandon.

Thanks for pointing out my poor use of language!

What I meant to say was I would like to contact family members. Although the UK census says she was born in Bandon, I know she was married in London and of course I do not know her maiden name. Since her father (Matthew) gave her away on her wedding day this probably means that her parents brought her to Fulham when she was a child. Matthew worked as a 'Gardner' as did my ancestor Jacob who married Ellen.  

I have traced only one marriage of a Carrell in Bandon to a Miss Crowley. Other enquiries have established that Carrell is not a Bandon family name but Crowley is. Unfortunately the dates don't really work so it is probably just a coincidence.

If any of the Crowleys in Bandon read this they might have a distant family memory of an ancestor heading off to at about the time of the Act of Union. 

Its a long shot however.

The free Irish Government site www.irishgenealoy.ie has the RC Church records from late 1790's for Bandon on their site.  The spelling of the name in the area is Carroll. You can also try www.bandon-genealogy.com and www.skibbHeritage.com have free to search graveyard database. Good luck. Regard Helen
