I looking for family info about my GGfather who left Ireland for Canada in 1850 and settled in Renfrew County(Perrault Settlement, Grattan Twp)

He may have been from the Tulla area, perhaps Middle Derryulk or possibly Tipperary(he listed Tip as his place of origin on a Canadian Census)

He was probably born in March of 1931,but only because his age was listed as 80 when he died in 1911

His parents were Martin McNamara and Margaret Bond

  • Dear Michael:

Many thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.  I believe that you may have posted this query before.  There were McNamaras in Tulla at that time, and I will have a look at the registers for you.

Do you have any other information?  If so, you can email me at tulla@irelandxo.com.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • My Great great grandmother was named Margaret MacNamara and was married to John Keane. I have no birthdates or marriage dates for either of them but their son, Matthew Keane was born in June 1840 if the documentation I've seen is correct (US Census 1900). Any info on the MacNamaras and Margaret in particular would be most welcome.

  • My Great grand mother came from Glandree, came to New Zealand in 1880. she was born between 1887 & 1860. Her Name was Anne Mcnamara. Her father a farmer was Patrick and her mother Kathy Curry. When a marriage was arranged for her she strongly opposed it, and talked her brothers into buying a ticket from Eleen Moroney who had changed her mind about going to New Zealand. Ann meet up with sister Mary Clare Moloney from St Columbkilles Convent Hokatika NZ. I am coming to Tulla in October to see if i can find her family group and maybe where in Glandree she came from.
