Hi   I am trying to trace the family of a John Vaughan who was a nephew of a Fr Tom Vaughan who was P.P in Miltown Malbay early 1900 he came to Knocknagore Kilkee in October 1910 and married an Henrietta Mahoney on 14/02/1911 he had 2 sisters that we know about a Mary and maybe Ann we don't know about any brothers possibly had a brother Fr Vaughan apparently brought his nephew from the town land of Callura Tulla according to the information we have it was a made match .ballinruan has been mentioned as well but on the paperwork it states Callura Tulla he came from we don't know his parents name ,we also know there was an O,Brien connection in that area.

Would love to fill in the spaces

  • Hi Maura

There is a baptism record of John Vaughan 24 Dec 1892 Clare on www.rootsireland.ie/ (subscription site)

Parish is CRUSHEEN R C; family's address: KNOCKMEAL

    Parents: Denis V & Bridget Harte; sponsors Daniel V & Nora V

There are 3 other baptisms of children with these parents: Thomas 1892 Bridget Mary 1894 & Mary1896

Thomas was baptised on the same day as John so MAYBE a twin?

I couldn't find a marriage record for John or Denis!

Thanks for reply as I understand from the records we have the John Vaughan I am talking about was born possibly 1885  or 1886 as he was 25 or 26 years when he married 14/02/1911. Definitely had a sister Mary.

  • Hi Maura

There are a few reasons not to totally discount this record:

Transcription inaccuracies, ignorance, illiteracy miscalculation etc so

He could have married at 19 & the sister is right ....
