  • I am also seeking relatives of the Dalys in Tulla.  My name is Simon Willis, I live in new South Wales, Australia and I am the son of Margaret Eileen Daly.  Her grandfather, Thomas Joseph Daly arrived in Australia from Tulla in 1878.  His wife was Honora (nee Quinlivan) daughter of James Laurence Quinlivan of Gamrah, Tulla, County Clare.  TJ Daly's father was Carrol Daly of Tulla.

My wife and I are visiting Ireland in 2017 and would like to make contact with anyone who has any knowledge of the Dalys, past or present.

    Thank you in anticipation.

  • Dear Simon:

Many thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out.

There is a John Daly who married a Honora Quinlivan (both from Tulla) on 11 February 1880 in Tulla.  Their witnesses were:  Michael Quinlivan and Mary Cleary.  Would this be the same person?

    Name    HONORIA QUINLIVAN
    Date of Event    1880
    Group Registration ID    N/R
    SR District/Reg Area    Tulla
    Returns Year    1880
    Returns Quarter    1
    Returns Volume No    4
    Returns Page No    313.

There is also a baptism entry for an Anne Quinlivan daughter of James Quinlivan and Catherine Connell in Lisofin.  Here is the  link for that:

http://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634806#page/30/mode/1up.  Do you think that this might be your family branch?  You will note that one of the sponsors is Carroll Daly.

If you let me know when you and your wife are visiting in 2017, we will make arrangements to have information for you together with some places to visit locally.  You can email me at:  tulla@irelandxo.com

    Kind regards,

    Jane.
