  • Hi:

I just saw your message.  You might try to look at the County Clare Library website at www.clarecountylibrary.ie/genealogy   for information.  They have a lot of very good genealogical resources online that you can go through.  If you look at the Tithe Applotment Books, you might be able to narrow down in County Clare where Ellen might have been born.  Those books are listed not only in order of parish, but also order of surname.

If you can narrow down the list to even a couple of parishes, I might be able to assist you further.

The very best of luck to you on your family search.

    Jane.

  • Hello Jane

I hope you recieved my thanks for your message

I looked up Tithe Applotment books as you suggested and I found Power families in

    Castle Quarter [ Kilkeedy ]  -- Creevagh  Beg [ Quin ] --  Curragh-Querin and Cloncarran [ Moyarta ]

I then hit a brickwall from there , hoping you can help if you can it would be much appreciated

I asked for help 02/01/ 2013 and 04/01/2013 did you see both ?? in notifications

I have since found out Ellen Power's mother Anna's maiden name was possibly Peppard

Her marriage to Thomas Power could have been around  1816 / 17 ??

Many thanks again      Best Regards    Bryan

  • Hi Brian:

My apologies for not getting back to you sooner.  I looked over your information again, and it looks to me that it might be possible that your Powers connection could be in Moyarta.  There is a parish liaison there who is very knowledgeable about the locality and he may have access to parish registers which might help you.

if you like, I can try to see if I can get someone to do a quick search through the Quin register on your behalf.  Let me know.

    Happy Easter

    Kind regards,

    Jane
