Looking for information about my great - grandmother Norah Theresa O'Keeffe b April 1850 Sallybank, County Clare. She came to Australia and married here in 1878. Her parents were Catherine McNamara (also born in Clare) and Timothy O'Keeffe.

I am currently in Ireland and heading to Sallybank just to be where she came from.

Thank you, Judy

    Dear cynoconnor,

A very belated but hearty thank you to you for the links. Somehow I had been missing this page. I am in Ireland now and heading to Sallybank just to be where my gg grandmother came from.

    Thank you and apologies again.

  • Hi Judy:

Thank you for your post.  There are some very good people in that area who may be able to assist you.  I have forwarded this query to one of our Limerick city volunteers and she may be able to assist you.

     Kind regards,

    Thank you Jane & Maresa,

I went to Sallybank yesterday and was able to locate and photograph the old school building - 1843 - which was great. I also went to the Clare Library research Centre in Ennis. The lady there was most helpful, but unfortunately no more definite information available. I'm beginning to suspect that owing to the very hard conditions in the area at the time it's quite possible that the birth was not recorded. I will keep looking anyway though.
    Thank you again.

    Regards,

    Judy
