I have traced the Tubridy side of my family to Co Clare - Cloghan More.

In the 1911 census, they were living with head of household, widowed mother Mary and her brother, whose last name was Duggan.

As far as I know, Mary (Duggan) Tubridy and her husband (I believe John) had some where around 13 children so locating with accuracy is a massive undertaking. There was also a whole other family of Tubridys in the very near vicinity -  were they related? Maybe John Tubridy's brother? Or one of his older sons? A cousin even? So hard to know....

I have some info about the four (4) siblings who migrated to the states but would love to find where the ones who stayed in Ireland, especially Mary and husband John (I hope that's the right name) are buried. I've found the Parish listed on the 1911 census; Kilmacduane - but I have no idea if there's a cemetery there or how that all works. Is where they are buried something I can find out in the library? Or through the Parish?

I'll be visiting Ireland in just a couple of months and am very excited to visit Cloghan More, Kilrush, or as close to where the family of Mary and John Tubridy were as is possible.

Any help will be greatly and sincerely appreciated!

According to the 1911 census Mary Duggan Tubridy had 13 children but only 11 were living in 1911. I located the 1901 census and her husband John was living as well as her father Pat. John died in 1905 and Pat in 1908. See civil index records below.John and mary were married in 1877 (see below). You can get copies of these records from the General Register Office for around 4 euros each. If you plan to get copies, let me know and I will forward instructions.

    You are welcome. Instructions below.

    Roger

Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. (This is a program bug that the GRO has to correct). Hit cancel and the appropriate form should come up. Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the event, registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.

  • Hi Tareesa www.clarelibrary.ie is excellent for all kinds of records including cemeteries. Some graveyards are online at www.historicgraves.ie  as the Registration district for deaths given by a previous respondant was Kilrush maybe your family may be buried there. Regards Frances

  • Hi Tarresa and John,

Do either of you have a Bridget Tubridy b. 1834/35 d. Mar 1920 m. John Considine?  She was my gg grandmother and I don't have much information on her.  I'm trying to flesh out my tree a bit as I'll be visiting next year with two cousins and I'd like to trace some of the family paths.

Sorry, Carol - I don't think it's the same Tubridy family as the one I'm connected to and have found info on. I did however, find a lot of Bridget Tubridys. I don't know if that's helpful or hopeful.... I feel so unhelpful. Wish I could offer more.

    Apologies,
