I have an May 23,1875 document with a stamp  of an 'abstract from the Register of Baptisms' of the County of Clare.

It states that  on April 28, 1851, Margaret McMahon was born to Bryan McMahon and Mary Doyle (Black Hills). Margaret is the sister of my grandmother's father. I am looking for any additonal information on Bryan and/or Mary Doyle. Can anyone help? Thank you.

    Welcome to ireland Reaching Out!

It is great to have a document in your possession that dates to 1875. I was unable to locate the marriage record for Bryan and Mary. The Kildysart records are not on Roots Ireland but I can give you a link to the parish register and possibly you can find siblings of Margaret.  http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0787

  • Hi Dorann,

Because of our strong DNA segment that we share on chromosome 2 and your help, we have become successful in making our connection to our McMahon, who must have been born about 1780 and is my 3rd great grandfather. Either he, or his unknosn witfe must be the ancestor, who has passed that one  > 30cM segment down to you, your brother John, me, my sister and several of my Daly 2nd cousins. We all show up in the DNA Mapper program.

I was able to go through the Kildysart Baptismal records and put my great grandfather Michael Daly's family together, to add one complete generation to my family tree

Now, I'm going through the Kildysart Baptismal records to try and put a generaion of the McMahon family together. The name McMahon is listed about 350 times in the index, so I'm hoping that I can builda McMahon database from the records.

  • John McMahon b. 1780 Co Clare and d. 1860 Co Clare.  He married Ellen Moroney, b. 1785 Co Clare and died 1850 Co Clare (Ireland Censuses 1841 and 1851)

Family history: John McMahon (Carpenter) C 1770 married to Ellen (surname not Known c 1770) most likely married around 1800. They may have had two sons. Patrick (also a Carpenter) C 1810 who married Mary Reidy/Reedy (Daughter of Michael and Susan) who with the following children emigrated to Jersey City, New Jersey, USA about 1867. All the children were born in the Kildysert area . Michael (Carpenter) b Circa 1845. Ann b C 1849, Patrick (Carpenter) c 1850, Thomas (Carpenter) c 1851, John c 1853, Eleanor c 1854, Mary c1856, Bernard c1858 and George c1860. This couple also had a daughter Susan C1842 who went to Australia in 1862 and married Thomas McCormack. The second son Michael (also a Carpenter)C 1812 married Bridget O'Loughlin They had the following children and went to Ipswich , Queensland, Australia in 1855. Maria (Mary) b c1840, Ellen c 1843, Bridget c 1844, Hannah c 1847, John c 1851, Michael (Carpenter) 1854, They also had two children born in Australia Elizabeth 1856, Lucy 1858. It appears that all the male members were all Carpenters following in a family tradition

I have a Michael Mc Mahon  born 1780 Co Clare who maried an Ellen Moroney.

Their son Patrick b 1802-1810 Married Mary Reidy and they went to New Jersey.  Her father is Michael Reidy
