I am researching Dennis McKee and Mary McMahon.

Various shipping records I have show “Dennis & Mary. Father dead. Mother living Parish of Feakle, Co. Clare” or “Dennis & Mary. Father dead. Mother living at Isle(?) Clare [There is a townland in Feakle, Co. Clare called Islandmore whether this is what was meant is unsure] or "Dennis & Mary. Father dead. Mother on board." The latter shipping record has a notation “Feakle, County Clare also Facal (sic), Tulla, Co. Clare. Two sons & two daughters, Bridget McKee. Morpeth.” Morpeth is in the Upper Hunter District of New South Wales, Australia.

Their children, based on these shipping records, were:
Name                  Ship              Arrived in Sydney
Honora McRee    Matoaka           17/05/1855
Dennis McKee    Glen Isla           02/07/1857
William McKee   Glen Isla           02/07/1857
Mary McKee       Spitfire              24/08/1863

There also appear to have been two more children, but I can only link them by Immigration deposit payments they made or were made for them, viz.

Name                                 Ship                            Arrived in Sydney    Comment
Patrick McKee (cousin?)   Star of Brunswick        18/12/1865             Immigration Deposit paid by Honora McKee. Patrick came from Tulla, County Clare (close to Feakle).
Bridget McKee                   Telegraph                   15/10/1860              Immigration Deposit paid by Honora McKee. Bridget came from Kilnoe Parish, Co. Clare, Ireland

I was wondering if someone could identify these people, and let me know dates of birth; and especially Dennis's (Denis)  date of birth, marrriage and death. Maybe he died in the Potato Famine years and his date of death and place of burial is unknown???

  • Hi,

Please register at Kilnoe Parish page for help there and register at Tulla Parish page for help with those parishes.

Also see www.clarelibrary.ie for lots of genealogical data.  Also checked the donated materials and Birth-Death-Marriage records page under that.  You will find complete transcription of Feakle's Baptism and Marriage registers.

    Lots of luck to you.

BTW, the Tulla Parish Liaison (Jane) is a great lady and will be able to help you.

    All the best,

    James McNamara

    Feakle Parish Liaison
