My great-grandfather was Michael John O'Loughlin, born probably in Ennis about 1866.  He married Isabelle Gordon in Trenton, New Jersey and died here.  His father is also Michael John O'Loughlin and his mother was Delia Mogan.  Meanwhile, Isabelle Gordon, supposedly born in Derry in 1868 and also died in Trenton NJ. Isabelle's parents were Henry Gordon and Ellen McCloskey.  Anyone know anything about these people?

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and thanks for your query.

In relation to your search you could try www.familysearch.org or www.rootsireland.ie (a subscription site) for information on your ancestors. As you probably know, baptism and other church records vary in start date depending on the parish.

Even though you don?t know the exact townland details, you could still check either of these sites for more information. As both Michael and Isabelle were born after 1864 when (generally speaking), civil registration began in Ireland, you will be able to search for a civil record of her birth also. This record will enable you to go back a further generation as they generally list both parents? names, occupation and townland.

You could also search Griffith?s Valuation to see if Michael Snr held any land in Ennis, as he probably did. You can access the Valuation at this link:

Best of luck with your search
