Am looking for connections to Brigid O'Brien, born in 1839, who was professed as a Dominican 1st February 1863 as Sr M. Bridget.  She was in the first band of Dominicans to come to Australia in 1867, and died in 1884.  We would so like to know some more about her family and her connections, and I don't even have any information about parents or place of birth other than County Clare.

Thank you,

Elizabeth Hellwig OP

  • Hello Sr. Elizabeth,

Unfortunately there are no records online for Co. Clare.  You will have to write to the Clare Heritage Centre to find any information on Brigid.

Sorry I can't help in any way here,

  • Dear Elizabeth:

While there are not any available records online, there are other resources that can be looked at.  If you leave it with me for a week or so, I will have a look and get back to you.

    Many thanks for your query.

    Kind regards,

    Jane.

  • Thanks so much Jane for trying.  Bridget was a lay sister, so I don't hold out much hope for her background information.  Anything at all will be a treasure.  Her name seems to be spelt as Brigid/Bridget We much appreciate your efforts for us.
