My 2nd Great Grandparents were both from Cavan and married on the 25th Oct 1863 in Drumlane Cavan.
Rose Ann Fitzpatrick married Charles O'Reilly (or could be Reilly) from the Glasgow Census. After marriage they left to emigrate to Scotland. I would be grateful if anyone recongnised the names from their own family trees or had any more information on both Charles and Rose Ann.

I think Charles & Rose have forgotten their exact date (or maybe place) of marriage - see this link for the entries in the Drumlane registers - just one marriage in October 1863 on the 8th of a James Flanigan. I've seen this type of error a number of times in Scottish birth records - I'll have a look at the marriages a few years before and after that date and see if they show up... I presume your Reilly/Fitzpatrick family were Catholic ?

Hi Shane,
Thanks so much for having a look. They must have just put a random date on the certificate, how interesting! But also annoying haha! Yes I believe they were Catholic. They were the first of our family to emigrate to Scotland. Their first son also called Charles was born 1866 so hopefully this will give an indicator that they were married at some point in the early 1860's.

It's Staghall near Belturbet which is a town in Co. Cavan - Staghall is not the name of an official townland in Co. Cavan but is the name of the village where one of the chapels for Drumlane Catholic parish was located - see this link to the parish details , the attached map extract and the entry from Lewis 1837 for Drumlane (the chapel is listed as Staghell).
The marriage records for the parish are available back to 1836 - maybe the priest never recorded their marriage in the register ?
I tried a couple of general searches in Cavan and nearby counties for the marriage in the available Catholic records, but found nothing promising..
p.s. I also checked for a possible civil marriage in case they were not Catholic, but no matches in these either..

Hi- I appreciate the notes here on Staghall. My 5x GGrandfather, Joseph Ingham, was there in the late 1600's. His father (also Joseph) may have settled there around 1650 as part of the Cromwellian Settlement but I haven't been able to prove this - Betham's abstracts 202 and 203 show him nearby in Quivvy, Barony: Lower Loughtee, Civil Parish: Drumlane. I have found Joseph (5) in several Deed Memorials, in the Farnam papers and as provost in Belturbet in the early to mid 1700's. I'd love any insight that anyone could provide.

Dear Christine:
Thank you for your query. I'm going to move it as a separate or new message board query as it will get lost in this thread.
Kind regards,
Jane
