I am looking for info on Patrick Francis Mellody (Melody) born in 1865, lived Crossbane Mullagh, County Cavan, Ireland. I believe he had siblings Peter, John and a sister, name unknown. Unfortunately this all the info I have. I am visiting Ireland in August and would love to find some info or anyone who could assist me.
Thanks, Ann

Ann:
I looked at Griffiths for Cavan-no Melodys. I also looked for 1864-1867 birth index records for Cavan--no luck No Melodys in Crossbane in the 1901 census. I assume he emigrated to the USA at some point. Did he go throught NY? Do you have his death record?

Thanks Roger for your help. Yes he did emigrate in 1883 but I am unsure if it was NY or not. His death was 2/6/1929 in Chicago Illinois. Unfortunately my Dad had very little info about his father. I also have grandparents on my mothers side who were also born in Ireland, but again very little info, just birthdate and County.
Can you look them up too? I have tried Ancestry but have not had a lot of luck.
Jane Maloney born 1839 County Cork
John Murray born 1831 County Cork, left Dublin 1845,
And my great grandfather: Daniel Ford, born 1/1/1837 in County Kerry. His father was William Ford born 1813 died 1902. (one of 13 children I was told) died 2/7/1927 in Janesville WI
It is frustrating trying to track them down and I appreciate any help you can give.
Thanks, Ann

Hello Ann,
I went to www.rootsireland.ie and searched for Patrick Melody b 1865.
I found one baptismal record for a Patrick Melody b. 1863 - 1867 in Co. Cavan
I also found baptismal records for a Peter and John, also in Co. Cavan
I believe these could be your ancestors. It's a pay per view site but it's not expensive about €5 to view a record and cheaper if you buy in bulk.
When you get onto the site go down the left side of the page and click on County genealogy centres. This will show you a map of Ireland and click on Co. Cavan. This takes you to the Cavan records.
Hope this helps you,
Regards,
