Hello Lurgan parish!

My great-grandad, Patrick Farrelly was born in 1836 and lived in Curraghmore, was baptized at St. Patrick's. His parents wer Patrick Farrelly and Ann Flanagan. He had twin older siblings, Thomas and Rose and a younger brother, Andrew. Patrick emigrated to the US after the famine, in 1851, Andrew followed 15 years later. I don't know what happened to Thomas and Rose, and have never been able to find a direct link to my family in Ireland.

Patrick's father had moved to Lisnabantry by 1863. I travel to Ireland often, staying in Moynalty with friends, where Patrick was married in 1864. (he returned to Ireland briefly, married Bridget McKenna; they then emigrated again to New Haven, CT)

I will be coming back in early August and would love to speak to someone from the parish who might be able to tell me more about my Farrellys from Curraghmore.

best regards for the new year!

Lois

  • Hi Lois,

Great to hear that you are planning a visit to Ireland this summer. We have recently added a link to the top of our page for people who are planning on visiting in 2013. It takes you to a short webform, enquiring about where you will be visiting and where you are coming from etc. We would greatly appreciate it if you could take a couple of minutes to fill it out. Thank you!

    Kind regards,
