Hi, I will be traveling to Ireland from the US in March 2018. I have been working on my family history for years and finally in the last month was able to pinpoint a location and was hoping for any help or information to take me further.
My 3rd great grandfather was John Brady, he came to America and settled in Columbia TN. He was born August 28, 1834 Ireland and died May 3, 1932 Columbia TN
HIs father was also John Brady, born 1801 Ireland and died 1876, Cavan Ireland
HIs father James Brady 1766-1831 Larah, Cavan, Ireland
His father Michael Brady 1746-? Larah, Cavan, Ireland
Thank you in advance for any help. I'm so excited to visit in March and hope to take full advantage of any information to point me in the right ancestry direction.

Great news about your March trip to Ireland.
Unfortunately, the RC records for Larah parish do not start until 1876 so you will not find any family baptismal records. The othe complication is that Brady was a very common surname in Larah parish. You can see from the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing that there were many Brady records including twelve John Brady records. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cavan/larah.htm
You mention that the 1801 John Brady died in 1876. Right now, death records are online from 1878-1966 at www.irishgenealogy.ie They expect that records prior to 1878 will be added in the near future.
Do you have any other information that might help us determine the townland in Larah parish where your Bradys lived? I assume you do not have the name of the mother of John Brady who came to America?

I'm afraid that my grandmother's name is a common name also.....spelling of course is probably not correct, Bridgit (Bridget) Carnon.

I was hoping that Bridget Carnon was from a different parish than Larah and the marriage would have been in her parish which might have earlier records. However, when I searched for a marriage record using Bridgit Carnon. I did not find a reocrd.
By the way, I looked at the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Larah civil parish and did not see any Carnon records but there were Carolans in the parish and possibly that was her surname. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cavan/larah.htm
