Hi, I am looking for any information on the family of John Hamilton who is living in Corhanaugh on the 1841 census. I am the 3xgreat grandaughter of his son William Hamilton who came to England in time for the 1841 census. William and his brother, Robert, were part of the RIC at the time they came to England - John, his second wife, Hannah, and a few children remained in Killenshandra. One son I have researched to the 1911 census as he is still living in the same area. John's first wife, mother of William and at least Robert, was named Mary, she died in 1834 (I think - from 1841 census). I know that William was born in 1818 (but do not have any baptism record for him). I have no idea what happened to John, Hannah, or the siblings of William - but I do know that John was still alive in 1855 when Robert got married in the UK. I have no idea of the surname for Mary (1st wife of John) or Hannah (second wife of John) so any information here would be appreciated.
William married a lady named Alicia BONYNGE - but no information has been found on this surname either - so if anyone has any knowledge of this surname I would be most pleased to hear about it.
I think that William was born in Corhanaugh (?) and Robert was born in Arva(?).
If anyone can help find information that would be really appreciated. Or if anyone is descended from this line - please get in touch!

Jacqueline:
There is a townland in Killashandra parish called Corhanagh and there is a small village/town called Ardagh in Killashandra http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arvagh
I was unable to find any baptismal records in Killashandra but records for the RC and C of I parishes start in the 1830s.
I located an 1832 Tithe record for a John Hamilton in Killashandra parish. The spelling of the townland is close to Corhanagh.

The 1856 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing also shows John in Corhanagh.

Thank you for this information - I will look into it. I wonder if all the Hamilton's were related? that are listed on the 1856 Griffiths Valuation.
I think the 1832 Tithe record is the correct one - he was a flax farmer.
