thanks. there is a possibility that they were from Castletara parish. 

The Mc Caffrey family were dececendents of Godfrey Maguire ( Mac Gafraigh ) and settled in Cavan and Meath  under the name Caffrey. My great grandfather was John Caffrey 1823 -1907 and was related to Caffreys in Ballinagh, Kilmore, Drumcor and Killashandra. I have carried out some research on ancestry .co.uk but have reached a roadblock.

My Irish ancestor GG  G/F  Patrick Caffrey 1806 - 1890 was born in co Meath, his parents are said to be Tom Caffrey b abt1793 and Margaret Crosby b abt1794 also co Meath around Oldcastle. Patrick's siblings are Jane b1807, John b1810 and James b1812. Walter Caffrey b abt 1796 from Oldcastle is thought to be an uncle. Patrick married Anne Gibney in Kilskyre in 1829 and in 1832 was transported to Australia as a convict.

Hello, Caffrey descendant here; I may have some info. 

Is anyone in this thread on Ancestry or my heritage to see if we match each other? Also, I know my 3 x great grandfather was a Caffrey from Cavan and some of my matches are in Australian currently. All of these surnames mentioned above I've seen in my travels, or they're in my tree. 

I have a small family tree, which my grandfather Caffrey made, along with some records he made that I'm willing to share.
