Family of Lucy Magaughran / McGaughran

According to RootsIreland, the child Maryanne was baptized as follows:

Maryanne Breslin

Baptism:              28-Nov-1841

RC parish of        KILLESHANDRA, Co. Cavan

Father:  John Breslin       

Mother:               Allice McGaghran

Sponsors: John King, Catherine McCabe

I did not see a baptism for James.

Many thanks.  The parents' names are a little different - John for Thomas and Allice for Lucy.   I can see how that might happen with verbal information as I think both were unable to write.  

Hadn't seen the name Thomas in your original post. Could you let us know where you found the names Thomas and Lucy? Thanks.

Had a look at the 1841 Killeshandra census. I believe George Prior was 4, not 7, and that Mary Mc was 43 not 73.

Is it possible that George is a child of Lucy Mc?

Lucy's name is in the census, in all her convict records, mostly in Tasmania, and in Tasmanian BDMs, though the spelling of her surname varies.

She named Thomas Breslin as "the father of my children" in her convict indent.

P200 has the first half of the line.

I agree that Mary was more likely to be 43 than 73, but hadn't applied that logic re the digit to George's age - thank you.  I'll try some searches in England based on that.

George was "English" according to the census and I couldn't find any reference to Lucy having been to England (doesn't mean she hadn't though).  I thought one of her sisters might be George's mother.  The above reference mentions two sisters, Mary and Sarah. 

If George was Lucy's child, I thought he would have been transported with her as well - like James and Mary Ann - if he was still alive.

There is a suggestion that Mary may have gone to Manhattan from the same above record.  Is there any list of emigrants from Killeshandra or Cavan that you are aware of?
