  • It would be helpful if you gave us a bit more information. Tell us what you already know, their names, religious denomination, where they lived and when they died or left Ireland etc.  That way it will be much easier to advise you on what records exist and for others to connect with your family.

  • I had a look in the revaluation records for Seagoe to see if I could see William listed. He’s not there but I suspect the explanation comes from his occupation. The Great Northern Railway is shown as passing through Seagoe (it was, and still is, the main line from Belfast to Dublin). I suspect he was a level crossing gate keeper, and as such would have been provided with accommodation beside the gates he had to open and close for the trains.

William doesn’t appear to have left a will, or at least not one that required probate.

Possible death for Letitia Keough on 6.2.1881 in Lurgan. You can view the certificate on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

    https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

(You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2 to a view a certificate).

    Is this Joseph in 1901?

  • Thank you for further info. In answer to Joseph in 1901 census yes, that seems to be his little family with William James missing.
I joined the NI Website you suggested and bought credits to view Letitia's death cert. Unfortunately it would cost me £8 so I may postpone that for another day.
Thanks for your help and advice.
