Mary Ann McNEA is my Great grandmother.  She married Carl (Karl) Edward FRYD on 28 Jul 1869 in St Mary's Church of Ireland.  She was born in Belfast in about 1849. I would love to know the exact date of her birth.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your message.

Civil registration did not begin in Ireland until 1864 so for birth records before this time you need to check in Church. Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870 are public records. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyed in the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. records. Most surviving records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland. Here are their websites: http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.

You could also try contacting the Ulster Historical FOundation for assistance, however a fee may apply. enquiry@uhf.org.uk

I hope this is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,
