Neither Laverty or Scullion appears in the Irish Censuses in Antrim until 1851 (free site at census.nationalarchives.ie/) but there are 55 & 64 of each name there.

Griffiths Valuation (free at www.askaboutireland.ie/) has 155 Lavertys & 106 Scullions 1861-2 in Antrim.

Unfortunately Loughguile RC baptism and marriages only start in 1845. All the events you are interested in are before that. So there’s little chance of finding a record of them through church sources.

If the Laverty family in Loughguile were farmers then they are probably listed in the tithe applotment records. (Tithes were a tax on land). Here’s a list of tithe holders in 1832. You’ll see several Laverty households with the relevant townland. That may give you a focus for further research.

The marriage that Col has found for Rose was in Toome which is about 30 miles from Loughguile. The names Scullion & Laverty are common in that area to this day. Probably worth getting the civil certificate as it may contain a little more information eg Charles’ townland. You can view the original certificate on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:

Toome RC is in the parish of Duneane. Their baptism and marriage records start in 1834 and are on-line free on: http://registers.nli.ie/parishes

But again they don’t appear to cover the years you need.

Hello ,I am sorry i cannot help you regards Lavertys.I had no idea there were so many people that name around Loughguile Parish area.

My great grandmother was Ann Laverty who married John McIlhatton in Ballymoney RC church in 1875.

They are buried in Magherahoney Churchyard.

Her father was John Laverty a farmer of Pharis in Loughguile Parish.

Her sister Ellen Laverty married Patrick Scally-they are buried in Loughguile

Children of each of these women came to New Zealand in 1926
