My great great great grandfather Alexander O Hearne was born in Glynn, in and around 1827-30.  I would like to know if there is any information or even people who may be distantly related.  He emmigrated to Australia in the 1880's but may have gone to the Channel Islands and then Cornwall, looking for work, before leaving for Australia.  He died in Adelaide 16th July 1877. He married a woman called Mary and had a daughter Ellen.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

We apologize that you have not received a reply to any of your four messages looking for Alexander O'Hearne. We received a tremendous number of messages in December and we did not answer many of the messages. I looked at this Irish Times web site www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/   which shows where surnames were found in mid-19th century Ireland. Hearne is mainly a Co. Waterford surname and is there was only one instance of the name in Co. Antrim and Co. Limerick. I also checked Roots Ireland from 1810-1830 for a baptismal record for an Alexander O'Hearne and there were no records. Many churches no longer have records back to the early 1800s and many Church of Ireland and Presbyterian churches do not have records on Roots.

Sorry we could not have been more helpful.
