My great grandfather William Shannon born in Ireland in 1834 and emigrated to Canada in 1856. His father is on his marriage records as Henry Shannon and his Mother as Ann Maria. Family records suggest he emigrated to Canada from Sligo with his brother James and his uncle Patrick. William belonged to the Church of England in his Canadian records. I thought I might have found Henry in Sligo, but on review there are some discrepancies with the family records. There is a Henry Shannon and a Patrick Shannon on Griffiths valuation Derrowelmore, Mayo that look like a possibility. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Ty:
FYI. Derrowelmore townland is in Mayo civil parish. Unfortunately, Church of Ireland records for that parish were destroyed in the Public Records Office fire in 1922.
The Henry Shannon from Derrowelmore died in 1880. See second record https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu…

Thanks Roger. Not sure if this indicates this Henry's religion was Church of Ireland?

Since William was Church of England in Canada, I made the assumption that his father Henry was Church of Ireland.
