I am keen to make contact with any Gleeson decendants/family members of William Gleeson, my GGGrandfather..
William is believed to have been born in 1821/1822 and was transported to Australia/Tasmania in September, 1842 at age 20 years on a charge of grevious assault. His offence was committed in the parish of Ballymackey, possible townland of Killeisk (report of the altercation show Killiniska), so it is most possible that he was born and lived with his family in this parish.
Australian records record his parents and Timothy Gleeson and Sarah Mallally/Mullally.
Kind regards, Edenhope

Edenhope:
Welcome back to Ireland Reaching Out!
The Tithe Applotment listing for Ballymackey civil parish shows two Timothy Gleeson records in the parish. See link below.
The RC parish for Ballymackey would be Toomevara, however, Toomevara records start in 1831.

Roger, Thanks for coming to my assistance again and for the information. Shame about the baptism records not being available for William's time. Will keep plugging away.

Hi Edenhope,
I wonder if we're looking for the same Gleeson family? I'm searching for my GGG Gpa Daniel Gleeson, who was also a convict in Tasmania Australia. His convict record stated he had a brother William back home.I've just made a post about it, with hopes to get more information. My Daniel had a son Timothy, but Sarah isn't a family name at all coming forward on my Gleeson line, except it being my own name. Would be wonderful to learn that your William and my Daniel were brothers. I won't even let myself go there....tooo much excitement...lol
All the best looking for your William.

Hello Sarah, It's a very pleasant surprise to see your post and to think that William may have had a brother in Australia. Clearly, the greater likelyhood was that William had siblings, but any details have not been found. The fact that Daniel had a son Timothy is encouraging; William also had a son Timothy, but not his first son as would have been the usual way. I would be very pleased to exchange the information I have regarding William to see if any item rings a bell. My email address is "graemejlee@bigpond.com" and I live in Melbourne.
Best regards, Graeme/Edenhope
