M ancestor Thomas Fitzgerald (b1835) came to America in 1856. He stated that the place of his birth was Rossalappane Limerick. On an old map I have located this "place" south of Dromcolliher on Buckley's Terrace Rd.

It appears to be a house/estate - the 1st edition OSI map c1840 (on GeoHive) shows it as 'Rossakippane'. The location is in the townland of Carroward West, which is in Dromcolliher civil parish, Co. Limerick.
On the later, c1890, maps the main building seems to be absent, with some additional small buildings in their place - there's no mention of Rossalappane or Rossakippane.

Thank you for your response.. I found it in 1832 Griffith Valuation map.. wondering the derivation of the name.Apparently it was an estate of some kind..any idea on finding out who owned it? My ancestors were probably tenant farmers or servants.

Robert Jones Stavelly (Staveley?) seemed to have owned a great deal of the parish of Dromcolliher on Griffiths' Valuation.
The only occupants I can see on Griffiths' Valuation for Carroward West seem to be in and around Chapel St. and Pound St., Dromcolliher Town. I tried putting Carroward, West in placename search . Result was "no occupants" and a link to map. When I typed Carroward West without a comma it said it wasn't on database.
Robert Jones Staveley features on the Landed Estates Database but I couldn't see Rossakippane or anything like it either on lists of estates or houses or on linked map.

One would think that the estate would have been in Tithe records which date from 1820s & 1830s.
Have you tried the list of Encumbered Estates in Ireland which dates from 1870s?
