My great grandmother Ellen(AKA Nellie) was born in the workhouse in 1876, Her father was a widower named James Pettit. Her mother was Honora(AKA Mary) Rush. They had four children and all lived at the Workhouse. James passes away 1877; Mary passes in 1885. The three younger siblings came to Ameria in 1888. Where can i do more research for details why they were in the Workhouse, where they came from in Glenamaddy, if there was more family still in Glenamaddy.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi John,
It is likely that James Pettit was employed in the Workhouse? See attached.
You should contact the local parish office in Glenamaddy as to likely relatives in the area.

Hi John! I just came across your post. Winifred, the eldest of the 4 children, was my great-grandmother. You must be related to Debbie. She recently reached out to my mother. We know so very little of the Pettit side of the family. I knew Winifred, born in 1868, Glenamaddy and she came to the US in 1880. That's it.
Nice to meet you!
