Hello Everyone
I am researching my family history and know that my Great Grandfather on my mums side was born in Fermoy County Cork in 1859. I have a copy of the 1911 UK census and he is listed as being 52 and born in Fermoy.
My Great Grandmother Sarah Long was born in Belfast and they were married in 1880 at St Annes in Belfast, both were listed as living in Belfast on the marriage certificate.
My Great Great Grandfather is listed as Robert Collins on the certificate. Could anyone point me in the right direction for records of births or christenings in the Fermoy area as I have searched online and cannot find anything.
Many thanks

Susan:
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland for Thomas Collins baptismal records in Fermoy with father Robert. I located a baptism on February 25 1858 in the Fermoy Church of Ireland parish. Thomas was born January 15 1858.His father was Robert who was a corporal in the 48th Regiment. Mother was Isabella no last name provided.
By the wa,y civil registration of births started in 1864.

Thank you so much, I have the enlistment papers for my Robert Collins and yes that sounds right. I can now hopefully try and discover more of the link with the area of Fermoy. Thomas eventually ended up in Barrow In Furness. Desperate to visit the area and Belfast and do some research.

I see 4 children born in Belfast:
Louisa 9.6.1880 at 63 Greenmount Rd (which I think no longer exists).
Isabella 7.1.1882
Rebecca 29.10.1883
Annie 12.7.1885
Last 3 born in Dundee St which is still there, though very much changed and rebuilt since the 1880s. Off the Shankill Rd.

This is wonderful thank you all so much. I have picked up pieces of some family investigations my father started into his back ground and my mums. Mum and dad have sadly departed now so no-one to ask questions to. My Grandad was David Collins brother of the above mentioned children.
I must try and visit the south and Belfast, living in Spain but it is something I feel the need to do.
