Currently researching family history as I am traveling to Ireland next year.

Looking for Thomas Baragry Born 1761 Oola, Limerick, Limerick, Ireland, Died in Oola, wife was Catherine Doherty 1767 Ballyvaughan, Tipperary, Ireland.

Child Patrick Baragry B:1811 Tipperary, Ireland,D:Jun 1884 Tipperary, Ireland, Patrick then was married to Harriet Sophia Hunt,B:abt 1800 St Marylebone, Middlesex, England, D: Tipperary, Ireland. Their Daughter Anne Baragry, B:5 Aug 1833 Tipperary, Ireland,D:23 Feb 1916 Morpeth, New South Wales, Australia, Married to Robert Findlay from Scotland. Both then moved to Australia

  • Subscription site  www.rootsireland.ie has a record of variants of this name going back to 1749 in County Tipperary. The main concentration are in the Newport area. 

    Nothing found for a Baragry in Oola. 

    The families are recorded as Roman Catholic.

  • Attached Civil death record of a Patrick Berkery in Murroe (Moroe) in 1884. He may not be the person whom you are seeking, but it is the only one I have found for 1880 - 1886. Civil records in Ireland are from January 1st 1864. Not all are on record, so it can be difficult to find details of a death.

    Those records can be accessed for free at www.irishgenealogy.ie. Land records are from 1823 to c1866 at www.nationalarchives.ie/Genealygy (Tithe) and www.askaboutireland.ie for Griffith's.

    Many  Roman Catholic baptism records were written in latin, so they can be difficult to decipher.

    Oola, Murroe and Doon are in the same general area of Limerick County and bordering on County Tipperary.

    Father:            Thomas Barragry       

    Mother:          Catherine Doherty

    Witnesses:      William Riordan, Mary Ryan

     

    There was also a James Barragy, bap. 21 June 1815.
