I am seeking information concerning the Tannyane family. My great grandmother, Catherine Tannyane was born in 1845 and she married Michael Healy living in Currabane, Castleffrench Galway. I believe that her farther was named Patrick. My DNA reflects a small percentage of Scottish and I suspect that it comes from the Tannyane line, but not sure. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Bob: Very few Tannyane records. Some under Tannyan. I found a death record in 1899 for a Mary Tannyane age 75 and a widow. See first record. The informant was her son Patrick. https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_retu… I believe this is Patrick in the 1901 census in Corrabaun townland in Killeroran civil parish http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Castle_Ffrench/… and 1911 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Galway/Castleffrench/C… I believe this Patrick was a brother to Catherine. Thank you for your input. The spelling of the name seems to vary greatly. Michael and Catherine lived their entire lives in Ireland. All their children except one, a son Michael, emigrated to NY.

I believe the Catherine was the daughter of Patrick Tannyane. The Mary that you reference I believe was married to John Tannyane and they had a son named Patrick. Can’t say that with any certainty, however.
