I have been trying to learn more about my O'Brien & Murphy families.
I think that Patrick Brien may have lived in the Glanworth area (Griffiths Valuation) before he married Ellen Murphy in Glanworth RC Parish, Sept 1851. Both Patrick & Ellen are believed to have been born between 1820 - 1830. Their first 4 children (Mary, Catherine, Elizabeth, & Daniel) were born/bapt in the Fermoy Union Workhouse. Two more children ( Ellen T. & John J) were bapt in the Glanworth RC Parish. Much of this info came from the Mallow Heritage Center. I do know that 4 of the children (Catherine, Daniel, Ellen T. & John J & their mother Ellen) immigrated to the Boston USA area in late 1700s & early 1880s. All surnames were listed as Brien. John J O'Brien is my direct ancestor. Though I have information about those children who settled in the Boston area, I have no information about Mary or Elizabeth.
While in Cambridge Massachusetts, Ellen Murphy O'Brien's records indicate that she was a widow. Her partents (John Murphy & Catherine Roach) were listed on her death record. Patrick is believed to have died 1870-1880, in Ireland.
Years ago while visiting the Fermoy/Glanworth area I read a book "A Glimpse of Grange" by Christy Roche. In that book were 3 children Daniel Brien, Ellen Brien, & John Brien attending the Grange National School in 1870. Their Homeland Address was listed as Ballyhenden & Parent/Guardian listed as Labourer.
It would be wonderful to learn more about the lives of Patrick, Ellen, & the children Mary & Elizabeth, as well as any other ancestors I may not know about.
Thank You for your help, Janet

Janet,
There are two possibly relevant headstones in historic Kilcrumper geaveyard in Fermoy. The names and dates may mean something to you.
Erected by Michael Murphy
Of Ballyhindon in memory
Of his father David Murphy
Who died Febr 5th 1825 aged 65
Also his mother Hannora
Murphy died Novr 6th 1859
Aged 74 years Also his
Brother John Murphy died
January 17th 1821 aged 38 years
May their souls rest in peace
Erected by
Mary Murphy of Ballyhindon
In memory of her beloved husband
Daniel Murphy who died Sept
16th 1878 aged 41 years
Also
Patrick Murphy who died June
1869 aged 29 years
Additionally, I found a record for the death of Patrick O'Brien in Glanworth in 1871, aged 64. He was a shopkeeper. Again, that may mean something to you.
Within the limitations of Covid restrictions, I can ask Christy Roche if he knows anything further, but it will be a while!
Did you consider the possibility that Mary and Elizabeth died?
Best wishes, Kieran Jordan

Thank you Kieran,
Your information will further help me to continue my search for my Brien/O'Brien and Murphy families. Yes, Covid restrictions have interferred with many of us who are trying to continue our searches for family. I appreciate your efforts to help me with these brick walls. I will try to keep in touch when I break a brick.
Do stay well & enjoy a pleasant spring.

Hello, I may have information pertinent to this. I have been looking for information on John Brien and Ellen Gallagher who immigrated to the US and have a child named Michael.
