Today I got an email promoting "Get all the resources you need for Transition Year, for free on Alison," to the email address that I use exclusively for IrelandXO.Clearly the person who sent this spam didn't do their homework, because I don't live in Ireland.
I don't know if IrelandXO can do anything about this sort of spam, and I'm not upset at this site, but I did wonder how many people got it and wanted to let the techs know in case there is anything they can do. If it'll help, I'm happy to forward the message to an appropriate person.

About two years ago Ireland XO had a genealogy course that was made available to Ireland XO members. I took the course which was housed on Alison's platform so likely I signed into their system to take the course. Since that time, about once a week or maybe less frequently, I get an e-mail from Alison on my Ireland XO e-mail address letting me know about a training opportunity. I just delete the e-mail and move on.

I'm one of the moderators at an online Irish translation forum, and similar Alison offers appear there from time to time. I don't think it's a harmful site, but I still delete their online posts, since they violate the terms of the forum.

I never signed up for anything with Alison, so that's not where they got my address. If I had signed up with them I'd have used a different email, anyway.
IMO it they're repeatedly violating the TOS they shouldn't be allowed to post anymore, but that decision is above my pay grade :-).
