Hello,
My girlfriend and I are trying to find the where about of her great grandfathers family home. It was listed as home #6 in the 1901 census. He was 23 at the time so his birth would have been around 1877/1878. His parents are listed as William Healy and Mary Healy. He emigrated to the USA In 1905. His son (also named William) visited the home after his time serving in WWII before returning to the US. Unfortunately he passed away 2 years after my gfs dad was born, so information on the houses where about is unknown besides what we know from the census.
Their neighbors, the McCormacks, were still in the same home in the 1911 census. I’ve searched the griffins evaluation and found a McCormack in Griston west and house location, the Healy’s we are looking for possibly moved in years later after the evaluation but I can’t be 100% sure.
We are visiting Ireland next year on a band trip, after we are done performing it is our goal to trace her great grandfather’s footsteps back to the home he lived in before coming to America. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!

The house numbers in the 1901 and 1911 censuses did not refer to the address of the home. Constables collected the census returns. They used an informal numbering system when they came to a townland. (Griston West townland was 197 acres in size and had 13 households in 1901). The first house visited was identified as house 1, the second house was house 2, etc.
Many houses from 1901 may not be standing or possibly ruins exist. The current families living there now may not have any knowledge of the Healy family who left 120 years ago. Of course, you can visit the townland and see the general area where the Healys came from.

Was the name of the ship that William sailed on the SS Noordland in 1905?

Hi, I've just checked with a friend who lives in the area and she knows where the Healy's lived. They lived there when her father was a child. I can put you in touch with her and she can give you more information.
Kind regards
