Hello,
I am researching the surnames Dillon and Clarke. I have recently found a tithe applotment record from the townland of Coolamber in 1826 with the names Patt Dillon and William Dillon living next to John Clarke.
I wonder if anyone knows what RC church records I might be able to search through to see if there is a marriage record for Patrick Dillon and Anne Clarke or a baptism record for any of their children James Dillon from 1829, John Dillon from 1831 or Thomas Dillon from 1835.
Many thanks in advance!

Kathy:
The RC records for Streete parish start in 1820 but there are some gaps in the records. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0179 For example, marriages are not available from January 1828 to January 1835 which may cover the period when Patrick Dillon and Anne Clarke married if they married in Streete parish. Baptismal records have a gap between 1827 and 1831 and then there are no records for 1832, 1833 and most of 1834.
I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not find a Patrick Dillon/Anne Clarke marriage anywhere in Co. Longford.
I also searched Roots Ireland and found only one baptismal record for a Patrick Dillon baptized March 6 1838 father Patrick Dillon and mother Ann Clarke. The RC parish was Carrickedmond which is not real close to Streete. Carrickedmond records start in 1835. Also, it is possible that there was another Patrick Dillon/Anne Clarke couple. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0140
I get the impression from your note that you searched the Tithe listings and found the Dillon/Clarke connection in Coolamber and are following that lead. I think the Carrickedmond lead shows more promise.
Any other info on the family? Did they stay in Ireland? Have you tested your DNA?

Thank you so much Roger!! You are correct, I was following a hunch, mostly because growing up, my father had always said that his Dillon ancestors were from "Longford Westmeath" which were obviously two different counties. I thought perhaps that was because they lived in a border town under different jurisdictions? That is what I was investigating.
My research had led me to the Carrickedmond records, and I did come across that birth for Patrick Dillon born in 1838. His death certificate from Cincinatti Ohio in 1920 listed his parents as Patrick Dillon and Anna Clarke so that was my match. I have connected him as my 2nd great grandfather John Dillon's brother based on the Will of James Dillon (1829-1914) who died in Preble County Ohio. (John and James immigrated some time in the 1850s) There was also a sister Bridget named in the Will who was born in Ireland in 1847 and a niece named Anna Dillon Ryan. Anna was the daughter of Thomas Dillon who married Mary Barden in 1865 according to Carrickedmond church records. Anna was born in 1866, and her birth record mentions that Thomas Dillon lived in Barry. Anna's obituary states that she immigrated to America at the age of 12 but I have not found the passenger list or immigration records to know who she came with. I did find the father Patrick Dillon, Patrick Dillon Jr and Bridget Dillon living in the same vicinity as John and James Dillon on the 1880 US census but have not found Thomas, his wife Mary or daughter Anna on any 1880 US census.
James Dillon's place of birth on the Carrickedmond record shows Kilcurry and this is very close to Barry, so I believe this is where my Dillons come from. I am just looking for something more concrete to tie them all together.
Yes, I have tested my DNA with Ancestry and I am on GEDmatch. My GEDmatch number is ZC9669351 and my brother's is AE3947740. I have tried to nail something down in GEDmatch but I am not very savvy with it.
Any further insight that you might have would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for all that you do!
