I am looking for help locating some headstones or burial records for the family of John Scanlon, b. @1852, m. Margaret Cunningham Scanlon, b. @1850. 4 of their six children immigrated to Texas, U. S. in the early 1900's and one of their great grandchildren wants to know their dates of death. They had a son, Patrick Scanlon, b. @1887, and a daughter, Mary Scanlon Snee, m. Patrick Snee who stayed in Ireland. One of Patrick Scanlon's daughters(?), Margaret, married a man with the last name Keane. They had a son, Sean Keane, who worked the family farm, but has since died. The Scanlon children who immigrated were baptized at St Keith's, and their parish was listed as Keash. Is there anyone who might be able to look for death records or headstones for John and Margaret Scanlon? I found them in the 1911 census. The Scanlon, later Keane, farm address was, as of 1990, Knockgrania, Bunninaddin, Ballymote. I'm not sure if that helps narrow which graveyard the family might be buried in; it seems like there are 4 in the area. Any advice you could give would be lovely and much appreciated. My exhaustive online search shows no database with grave records for your area. But if you have a source I'd love to know about it! Thank you in advance for any advice you might have. We're thinking about you in Ireland as we shelter in closed down Ohio. Genealogy can help connect us even when we can't travel to see each other!

Hello NCG from one bunker to another, as we are all social distancing etc it may be tricky getting someone to visit the grave yards, however there some hope, I was suprised to see I could not locate Keash on the Townlands website but while looking at Ballymote I noticed a Keash Road and tracked it along to no avail, however there is a parish https://www.keashparish.ie/ do not be surprised if there is not a headstone as the cost was beyond the means of a lot of families but you could try mailing the parish and asking if they were aware of one, I was using this site for location but it lists civil parishes and Keash is obviously an RC parish https://www.townlands.ie/
The news gets a little better as deaths records to 1968 from 1864 but not all entries visible but should be for your period are here, it is free but sign in https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ click on civil records as the church records for Sligo are not there.
I have ancestors for neighbouring counties and am aware there are a few private Facebook pages for different counties and areas, apply to join and in my experience they are we run and the people who join are committed, so search Sligo genealogy or even Ballymote on FB and see what pops up, there are some pages just created and not active, think it was just done by a computer but there will be at least one active page.
If you are not aware there is a page from a land survey with maps here, search Scanlon and Sligo http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=nameSearch there are 19 Scanlons recorded circa 1858 but none in your area, however you could try searching under area rather than name.

Thank you! So far I have not found civil death records for the family. I know you all are social distancing too, and hate to ask anything of the St. Keith's priest right now. I'll look for the FB groups you mentioned. So far I've found every Scanlon in the county but the two I'm looking for!
